What we do

Aberystwyth Social Clubs is a welcoming group-based service, designed to reduce isolation and help people build confidence and resilience. The service creates a safe, supportive environment where individuals can connect with others, learn new skills, and feel part of their community.

Who we support

The service supports adults aged 18 and over living in Ceredigion with mental health issues.

How we do it

We offer a range of inclusive group activities for people of all abilities. These include:

  • Art groups led by an experienced art tutor with a background in both creative practice and mental health. These sessions provide a calm, therapeutic space where individuals can express themselves and develop their skills at their own pace.
  • Music and Singing Groups delivered by an experienced musician. These sessions include activities such as song writing, pop choir, "sing and chat" and ukulele and guitar groups. They are designed to be relaxed, enjoyable, and supportive, helping people build confidence and social connections.
  • We also offer a drop-in style of support, allowing individuals to make contact outside of planned sessions, if needed.
  • The service also promotes volunteering and peer support opportunities to develop skills, gain confidence and play an active role in the community.

Referral

Individuals can self-refer to access the Aberystwyth Social Clubs. Alternatively, all other referral routes are considered and include referrals from the Community Mental Health Teams, GP surgeries, the local University, unpaid carers and friends.
