What is housing support for?

Having a safe and stable place to live is essential for wellbeing, yet many people face challenges that put them at risk of homelessness. Factors such as mental health difficulties and learning difficulties e.g. Autism, being substance dependent, financial pressures, and relationship breakdowns leading to non-engagement with services? can make it difficult to both secure and maintain a home.

Housing support is designed to help people overcome these challenges. It provides practical guidance to help individuals find and maintain accommodation, access the benefits they are entitled to, and understand how to work with the housing system.

In addition, housing support recognises the emotional impact of housing insecurity. It offers reassurance and support to help people feel more stable, confident, and in control of their situation and enable independent living.

How housing and homelessness support works

Housing support provides practical and emotional assistance to help people secure and maintain stable accommodation. This includes guidance on finding housing, accessing benefits, and accessing the housing system, as well as support to manage the emotional impact of housing insecurity so individuals can feel safer and more in control.

At Adferiad, we offer tailored, compassionate support designed to prevent homelessness and help people sustain their tenancies. Our aim is to support individuals in achieving safe, stable housing and living independently.

We deliver a wide range of services across Wales for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness or those who need support with daily living skills, including individuals reintegrating into the community after a period of time in hospital or prison.

Many of the people we support are living with mental health and/or substance use challenges, but we also work with individuals facing a wide range of other circumstances and barriers.
