What we do:
We work alongside the NHS early intervention service for psychosis in Aneurin Bevan. The service is directed at those who have experienced a first episode of psychosis and aims to aid in recovery during the early stages of psychosis, schizophrenia and other presentations of schizophreniform symptoms. The service also provides support with other co-occurring needs that our service users face on an every-day basis, such as depression and anxiety, as well as physical health needs.
Who we support:
We support individuals who are currently accessing the Early Intervention for Psychosis service in the NHS, where the care coordinators for these people see it suitable for their patients to engage in psychosocial intervention, in Gwent.
How we do it:
We adopt a person-led, therapeutic approach which consists of one-to-one visits that are tailored to the individual's personal needs. We give you the autonomy and comfort to choose how you want to access our service. Advice is given by experienced mental health professionals within the wider EIP team, including psychiatric consultants, occupational therapists, physical health specialists and many experienced psychologists and nurses. The approach we use also consists of community-based activities that aim to build on our service users' confidence, self-esteem, anxiety, and overall mental wellbeing.
