What we do
Pen Y Dre is a supported accommodation service providing 24/7 staff support to young people. The service offers a safe, stable, and nurturing home environment for young people who require additional support to develop independence skills.
Who we support
We support young people in Merthyr aged 16-25, predominantly from care settings or those facing homelessness. Young people may require tenancy-related support or help to develop a range of independent living skills, including support with mental health or emotional wellbeing.
How we do it
We work holistically with everyone to promote self-empowerment and positive outcomes, supporting them to build the practical, emotional, and social skills needed for independent living. We predominantly support young people from care settings or those facing homelessness, with each young person provided their own self-contained flat within the building and access to support when required.
Referral
Referrals to the service are made via social services or Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council, primarily through Social Workers or Personal Advisors from the 16+ Leaving Care Team. Young people experiencing homelessness are referred via their Housing Officer. We also accept referrals from other supported accommodation providers providers where a young person is assessed as being ready to step down into a lower-need supported living environment.
