What we do:
We work alongside the NHS Early Intervention for Psychosis service in Swansea Bay. The service is directed at those who have experienced a first episode of psychosis and aims to aid in recovery during the early stages of psychosis, schizophrenia, and other presentations of schizophreniform symptoms. We also provide support with other co-occurring needs, such as anxiety and depression, as well as physical health issues.
Who we support:
We support children and young people aged 14 to 35, living in Swansea, experiencing a first episode of psychosis.
How we do it:
We adopt a person-led, therapeutic approach which consists of one-to-one visits that are tailored to the individual's personal needs. We treat each person as an individual with the autonomy and comfort to choose how they access our service. Advice is given by experienced mental health professionals within the wider EIP team, including psychiatric consultants, occupational therapists, physical health specialists and many experienced psychologists and nurses. The approach we also use consists of community-based activities that aim to build on our service users' confidence, self-esteem, anxiety, and overall mental wellbeing.
