If you’re thinking about trying ketamine, there’s a few things you should probably know first. This page is hosted on behalf of North Wales Police.
Ket, Special K, or K is typically an off-white powder that’s usually snorted. It is a dissociative anaesthetic and a powerful psychedelic drug. While that might sound like fun, there’s a lot that most people don’t know when trying it for the first time.
At lower doses, you can feel chilled, relaxed or a bit dizzy. At higher doses, you can enter a “K-hole”, which involves powerful hallucinations which some have described as a near-death experience.
You can have side effects like dizziness, confusion, loss of coordination, difficulty moving, nausea and vomiting from using Ket even once.
Common side effects from short-term use include anxiety, panic attacks, passing out and choking on vomit. Ket impairs coordination, so minor accidents link bumping into things are common; it can make you forgetful as well.
Regular users get severe abdominal pain, often called “K-cramps”. Regular use risks serious damage to the kidneys and especially the bladder. It may affect memory. Tolerance builds quickly and can lead to psychological dependence. Long-term ketamine use has been shown to damage the bladder and urinary tract, causing “ketamine bladder”. The damage caused to these organs is irreversible.
Take it from Bradley.
