What is criminal justice support?

People involved in the criminal justice system often face complex challenges, including mental health difficulties, substance use issues, trauma, housing instability, and social exclusion. These experiences can increase the risk of offending, reoffending, and preventing contact with support services.
There is a significant need for specialist, coordinated support for those within the criminal justice system, helping them to address underlying issues and work towards positive change. Without this support, people can become trapped in cycles that are difficult to break.

How criminal justice support works

Support is person-centred and focuses on the individual’s needs. It helps people to understand and address underlying issues, access the right services, and build stability and resilience to support positive change and reduce the risk of re-offending. We focus on understanding the person behind the behaviour and support vulnerable people to navigate the system. We offer a range of services that support those involved in or leaving the criminal justice system to navigate their time in custody, prison, or reintegrate back into the community. Those we support may have mental health and addiction issues, housing needs, or be classed as legally vulnerable. Find out more about our criminal justice services here.
